Light of the World

“And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” (John 1:5)

If we walk in the light and are rejected, it is the light that is rejected because those in darkness cannot comprehend it. Therefore, their response to us may be dark or negative. Don’t take rejection, offenses, and disrespect personally. Darkness is offended by light. When the light is present, everything is illuminated. That’s why so much evil is done after the sun sets, under the shadow of darkness.

I encourage us to remember who we are this week as we go about our day-to-day lives. The light of God is in us. We no longer live in darkness or succumb to the things that reside there. Even if it slips our minds or is not at the forefront of our thoughts, others see the light in us.

“And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.” (John 3:19-21)
